When one of my best friends was pregnant, one of our favorite lead ups was the fruit and vegetable appl. What size is the baby this week? An avocado? A mango? A butternut squash?

She and her husband didn't find out what they were having. So when the app told them the baby was the size of a lemon that week, they just started calling him Baby Lemon. It just stuck

When the baby shower rolled around, I was starting to work with factories to scale production ability. Sketching pieces on paper and using computer to create mock ups before CAD files.  And I knew exactly what I wanted to make for Meredith and the guests who had watched Lemon grow from a little seed into a full-blown citrus.

I designed a pair of tiny lemon stud earrings — pear-cut yellow stone for the fruit, marquise green stone for the leaf. And a matching necklace charm, in case anyone wanted to wear Lemon a little closer to their heart. Everyone at the shower got a pair. It was the first piece of jewelry I ever designed. It's the reason Golden Bond exists.

Baby Lemon was born a few months later. And in the way that babies sometimes rewrite the story on you — they dropped the "m." His name is Leon.

Now we call them the Leon Lemons. And every pair we sell carries the same small, bright, sweet reminder that jewelry can be about a person, a moment, a season of waiting for someone you already love.
